“We are very indebted to you…” Laxman thanks bus driver and conductor for helping save Rishabh Pant's life after car crash

Pant met with a dreadful car accident on Friday morning on Delhi-Dehradun expressway.

Pant met with a dreadful car accident in the wee hours on Friday (December 30) while going to his hometown Roorkee from Delhi.

The southpaw dozed off while driving and lost control of his Mercedes car, ramming it into the divider and causing the crash. It was at this point that Sushil came to Rishabh’s rescue and helped the cricketer come out of the car.

Since then, Sushil Kumar has become the talk of the town and he has been felicitated by the Haryana government as well.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, former India cricketer VVS Laxman also paid his respects to Sushil.

“Gratitude to #SushilKumar ,a Haryana Roadways driver who took #RishabhPant away from the burning car, wrapped him with a bedsheet and called the ambulance. We are very indebted to you for your selfless service, Sushil ji #RealHero,” he wrote.

Laxman also expressed his gratitude towards bus conductor Paramjit, who helped Sushil in saving Pant's life.

“Also special mention to the bus conductor, Paramjit who along with Driver Sushil helped Rishabh. Very grateful to these selfless guys who had great presence of mind and a big heart. Gratitude to them and all who helped,” he added.

Meanwhile, the BCCI on Friday released an official statement on Rishabh Pant and provided an update on his condition, including the list of injuries he suffered.

“Rishabh has two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee and has also hurt his right wrist, ankle, toe and has suffered abrasion injuries on his back. Rishabh’s condition remains stable, and he has now been shifted to Max Hospital, Dehradun, where he will undergo MRI scans to ascertain the extent of his injuries and formulate his further course of treatment,” the BCCI statement read

“The BCCI is in constant touch with Rishabh’s family while the Medical Team is in close contact with the doctors currently treating Rishabh. The Board will see to it that Rishabh receives the best possible medical care and gets all the support he needs to come out of this traumatic phase,” it added.
