Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria lashed out at national team fans and experts who often compare Babar Azam with Virat Kohli after the hosts suffered a humiliating 0-3 defeat in the three-match Test series against England at home on Wednesday (December 20).

England won the third Test in Karachi on day four after resuming on 112/2 chasing 167 runs to win the match. Ben Duckett made an unbeaten 82, while captain Ben Stokes made 35*.

With this win, England completed a historic 3-0 Test series win over Pakistan, becoming the first team to whitewash Pakistan in Pakistan in the 75 years of their cricketing history as an independent nation.

Kaneria asked people to stop comparing Babar with Kohli, saying the current Pakistan cricket team doesn’t have any big players to be compared with India’s big players like Rohit Sharma and Virat.

Danish Kaneria said on his YouTube channel: “People should stop comparing Babar Azam to Virat Kohli. The likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are very big players. Pakistan has nobody in their team who can be compared to them. If you make them talk, they will be a king. When you ask them to produce results, they'll be zero.”

Kaneria further rated Babar's captaincy in the recent Test series against England as "zero." The former spinner also believes Babar doesn’t have the ability to lead Pakistan in Test cricket.

He signed off by saying, “Babar Azam is a big zero as captain. He doesn't deserve to lead the team. He is not capable of leading the team, especially when it comes to Test cricket. He had a good chance of learning captaincy by looking at Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum during the series. Or, he could have kept his ego aside and asked Sarfaraz Ahmed how to captain.”

Pakistan will now prepare for the two-Test series against New Zealand which begins on December 26 in Karachi.
