Former Pakistan skipper Ramiz Raja is likely to lose his post as the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), media reports claim.
According to a Geo News report, former PCB chief Najam Sethi is likely to replace for the top position.
Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also hinted at replacing Raja with Sethi, Geo News reported citing sources.
Sethi reportedly had lunch with the Pakistan PM in Lahore on Saturday (December 17).
“PCB’s constitution of 2014 should be restored. After its restoration, departmental sports will be revived," said sources, quoting the Prime Minister.
As per the report, sources said that the secretary of the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) has forwarded the summary regarding the changing of the chairman to the Prime Minister’s House.
The source further added that the Prime Minister can order the reinstatement of 2014’s PCB constitution.
Ramiz Raja, who was part of Pakistan’s 1992 World Cup triumph, was elected unanimously and unopposed as the PCB chairman for a three-year term in September last year.
On the other hand, Sethi relinquished his PCB chairman post in 2018 when Imran Khan took charge as the Prime Minister. Sethi was appointed on a three-year term in 2017 but his bitter relationship with Imran resulted in his early ouster.
