Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar revealed that he had rejected an advertisement as it was "disrespectful" to the sport for which he was approached right after his desert storm knock against Australia in Sharjah back in 1998.
Tendulkar is one of the all-time greatest cricketers of the game, and he always lived up to his reputation. Every cricket fan knows how much the Master Blaster loves cricket and worships the game, given that he never did anything that disrespect the game, and recently he revealed an interesting story about an ad.
Well, after the legendary batter smashed twin centuries against Australia in the tri-series in Sharjah, Tendulkar was offered an ad, but after reading the script, he turned down the ad. However, the former Indian captain agreed to do the shoot after the makers made amendments to the script.
Speaking with the host Gaurav Kapur during in an event organised by Infosys, Sachin Tedulkar revealed: “It happened in 1998 after the desert storm tour in Sharjah. We came back and one of the sponsors wanted to shoot an ad where cricket balls were coming at me and with a fly swatter, I'm hitting them outside the stadium. So, I turned down the ad, I said you have to change the script because this is disrespecting my sport and I worship my sport. I will not be shooting for this ad.”
He added, “Fortunately, they did (change the script). I don't think that after shooting that ad, I would have been able to go back home or even go back to my coach. That wasn't something they had taught me. They had inculcated right values and I stand by those values.”
