England’s Test captain Ben Stokes heaped praise on Harry Brook after his Player of the Match performance in the second Test against Pakistan in Multan.
Stokes said that Brook has the talent to be successful in all three formats of the game, like India’s batting superstar Virat Kohli. Notably, Brook smashed a century (108) in the second innings to play his part in England’s memorable Test series win in Pakistan.
England clinched the Test series with a 26-run win in the second Test in Multan on Monday (December 12), winning back-to-back matches on their historic tour of Pakistan, with the third and final Test set to begin on December 17 in Karachi.
Ben Stokes was quoted as saying to Sky Sports: “He's a player whose technique is suited to all three formats, he wants to always look to be putting pressure back onto the opposition, and he's won another game for England.”
He added, “After the summer he had last year, getting all the big-ups before he made his debut at the back end of the summer, to come here and put in that kind of performance again was just phenomenal.”
Brook is also the leading run-scorer for England in the ongoing three-match Test series in Pakistan, where the young batter has so far scored 357 runs at an average of 89.25 and a strike-rate of 101.70 with the help of two centuries and a half-century.
Stokes signed off by saying, “He's one of those rare players that you look across all formats and you can just see him being successful everywhere. It's a massive shout, but Virat Kohli is one of those guys where his technique is just so simple and works everywhere. The pressure that he puts back onto opposition is exactly what we're about.”
