Virat Kohli celebrates after India beat Pakistan in MCG in T20 WC 2022 | GettyFormer India captain Virat Kohli sent the social media and his fans into a frenzy thanks to his posts on Twitter and Instagram in which he used the October 23rd innings against Pakistan and his statement reeked of something MS Dhoni had done when he announced his retirement.

Kohli, who is currently enjoying a break from cricket along with the likes of India captain Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, R Ashwin, Mohammed Shami, and Dinesh Karthik, took to Twitter and Instagram to post a photograph of his knock against Pakistan in the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup 2022 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground last month.

He single-handedly won India the game by 4 wickets scoring an amazing 82* in 53 balls as India chased down 160 on the last ball. He took India past the finishing line when 28 runs were needed off the last 8 balls and his six against Haris Rauf, in which he hit a length ball straight over the bowler’s head towards long on, is being hailed as the greatest shot of the tournament.

"October 23rd 2022 will always be special in my heart. Never felt energy like that in a cricket game before. What a blessed evening that was,” Kohli wrote in his post.

This sparked rumors of his retirement and fans on social media began comparing it to the way MS Dhoni called time on his international career with an Instagram post on August 15, 2020.
