The All-India Senior Selection Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, named the India A squads for the two four-day matches to be played in Bangladesh.
The two matches are slated to be played in Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet on November 29 and December 6 onwards. The BCCI has named two different squads for the two matches.
Bengal’s Abhimanyu Easwaran has been named the captain of both squads which have some youngsters getting their first taste of India A cricket. Mumbai’s left-handed opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and India’s 2022 U19 World Cup-winning captain Yash Dhull have been included in the squad, along with Tilak Varma, who impressed in IPL 2022.
Also named is Sarfaraz Khan, who has been in hot form in domestic cricket and many felt should have made it into the Indian Test team for the Bangladesh tour. Also named is Kerala batter Rohan Kunnummal, while Saurabh Kumar, Rahul Chahar, and Jayant Yadav are included as spinners.
Navdeep Saini, Atit Sheth, and Mukesh Kumar are the pacers while Upendra Yadav has been named the wicketkeeper.
For the second four-day match, India Test regulars Umesh Yadav, Cheteshwar Pujara, and KS Bharat will join the squad ahead of the two-match Test series which begins on December 14.
