Steve Smith continued his great run of form with a well compiled 94 in Australia's 72-run win over England at Sydney on Saturday (November 19), helping the hosts to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. Smith missed out on his 13th ODI ton but played an innings of great control and assurance.

He hit five fours and a six in his 114-ball knock, as Marnus Labuschagne (58) and Mitchell Marsh (50) also scored fifties with Australia finishing at 280/8 which proved to be plenty for England who were cleaned up for 208 despite half-centuries by Sam Billings (71) and James Vince (60). Mitchell Starc and Adam Zampa picked four wickets each as England were bowled out in the 39th over.

Smith, batting on 57 in the 32nd over, faced a free-hit delivery from leg-spinner Adil Rashid and tried to be innovative as he tried to play the switch-hit made famous by the likes of Kevin Pietersen and Glenn Maxwell. However, Rashid cleverly adjusted to his movement and ensured Smith couldn't connect the ball, which left him quite frustrated as he shrieked in disappointment.
