India to play Australia in 4 Tests in Border-Gavaskar Trophy, their final matches in WTC 2023.

India to play Australia in 4 Tests in Border-Gavaskar Trophy | GettyAustralia will be touring India in February-March next year for the coveted Border-Gavaskar Trophy in a four-match Test series and it seems the BCCI is close to finalizing the four venues for the matches which will be part of the ICC World Test Championship 2023.

These four Tests will be the last for India in this WTC cycle and it is very possible that Team India might have to beat Australia 4-0 in order to qualify for the final which will be played at Lord’s.

The series is traditionally a four-Test affair but will be contested across five matches during the next ICC Future Tours Programme (FTP), starting in 2024.

As per a report from PTI, Delhi is slated to host a Test match after five years as it missed out during the two years of the COVID pandemic. It last hosted a Test match when Sri Lanka toured India in 2017.

Three other centers which are strongly tipped to host the remaining Tests are Ahmedabad, Dharamsala, and Chennai.

"Delhi is likely to host the second of the four Test matches as of now. The dates will be out as and when the Tours and Fixtures committee holds its meeting. Dharamsala, which hosted its first and only Test almost six years back, against Australia in March, 2017, will probably host the third Test," a senior BCCI official told PTI.

The report also mentioned that Australia is likely to begin the series with the first Test to be hosted by Chennai or Hyderabad, as Bengaluru had hosted a Test match against Sri Lanka earlier this year. That was a day/night Test.

The Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad is likely to host the fourth and final Test of the series. A decision is yet to be taken on which of the four Tests will be a day/night affair. India has played three pink-ball Tests under light- against Bangladesh in 2019, against England in Ahmedabad in 2021, and recently against Sri Lanka in Bengaluru.
