India batter Suryakumar Yadav has retained his top position in the ICC men's T20I batting rankings issued on Wednesday, thanks to his superlative performance in the recent T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.
Suryakumar finished third on the most-runs table with 239 runs in 6 matches with 3 fifties and the best score of 68 at an average of 59.75 and strike rate of 189.68. He hit 9 sixes and 26 fours in the tournament.
Suryakumar became the No.1 T20I batter after a superb showing in the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup and he has achieved a career-best rating of 869 points. This dropped to 859 points after his dismissal for 14 runs in the semi-final against England.
However, the biggest gainers in the aftermath of the T20 World Cup 2022 were England players in Alex Hales and Sam Curran.
Hales had smashed 86* from 47 deliveries in the semifinal against India, and made a big jump, climbing 22 places up to No. 12. He finished as England's second-highest run-scorer in the T20 World Cup, with 212 runs at an average of 42.40.
The opener has smashed 430 T20I runs in 2022, at an excellent average of 30.71 and an equally good strike rate of 145.27 since his return to England setup.
Other batters who made progress in the top 10 are Babar Azam and Rilee Rossouw. Babar rose up to no.3 spot, while Rossouw jumped up to seventh after New Zealand's Glenn Phillips dropped to the eighth spot.
In the bowling charts, Adil Rashid has been the biggest gainer after his extraordinary performances in the semifinal against India and the final against Pakistan as he gained five spots to move up to No 3.
Man of the final and Man of the tournament Sam Curran gained two spots to move to No. 5. Wanindu Hasaranga continues to remain the top-ranked bowler, followed by Rashid Khan.
