Suryakumar Yadav, the majestic Indian batter has become the new no.1 ranked batter in ICC T20I rankings in the new update released on Wednesday, November 2, 2022. Thanks to his amazing run of form in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, he ended Mohammad Rizwan’s reign at the top.
He has been impressive in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2022 as well, registering back-to-back half-centuries against the Netherlands and South Africa. His amazing knock of 68 against Proteas on a bouncy Perth surface was a highlight of the tournament.
Suryakumar Yadav made his debut for India in 2021 and so far in 37 T20Is, he has made 1179 runs with 11 half-centuries and a brilliant 117 against England recently. He averages 40.65 and has a strike rate of 177.02. Suryakumar has also hit 67 sixes and 108 fours in T20Is thus far and is the highest six-hitter in 2022 thus far.
He is also the highest run-getter in T20Is in 2022 with 8 fifties and one century thus far. Suryakumar Yadav now has 863 rating points at the no.1 spot, with Rizwan at no.2 with 842 points.
Apart from Suryakumar Yadav, New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips and South Africa’s Rilee Rossouw also moved upwards in the latest update of the ICC T20I batting rankings.
Rossouw hit a magnificent century against Bangladesh in Sydney and the 33-year-old moves up a whopping 17 places to eighth overall on the latest T20I batter rankings. On the other hand, Phillips - who scored 104 against Sri Lanka also at the SCG - rises five places to seventh, with countrymate Devon Conway at the third spot.
In the bowling rankings, Wanindu Hasaranga moved three spots up and has inched closer to top-ranked Rashid Khan. Hasaranga is having a brilliant T20 World Cup 2022 and has the most wickets for any bowler with 13 scalps.
Another movement upward was made by England’s Sam Curran, who jumped two places to sixth overall. And South Africa’s Anrich Nortje improves 11 spots to eighth.
Rashid remains on top of the rankings list with a total of 700 rating points, but Hasaranga (697), Tabraiz Shamsi (694), and Josh Hazlewood (692) are all within striking distance.
