The three-match T20I series between hosts Pakistan and West Indies will now take place in the first quarter of 2024, as per the agreement between Cricket West Indies and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Due to a busy home season, the PCB postponed the series, which was initially supposed to be played in January 2023.

“The decision has been made considering 2024 is an ICC Men’s T20 World Cup year, with the event due to be hosted in the West Indies and USA in June 2024, and the shortest format matches will, therefore, help both the sides to prepare for the tournament,” PCB said in a press release.

The series is not a part of the recently announced ICC Future Tours Programme for the 2023-2027 cycle.

As part of the 2023 World Cup Super League, West Indies visited Pakistan in June 2022 to take part in the three-ODI series in Multan. The hosts won all three games to take control of the series.

Earlier this year, the West Indies visited Pakistan for a multi-format limited-overs series. However, after the 50-over matches were finished, which the Men in Green won comprehensively, multiple cases of Covid-19 were reported in the visitors' camp.

As a result, both boards decided to postpone the T20 series and hold it in early 2023.

Speaking about the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022, West Indies suffered a shocking defeat to Scotland but bounced back in the match against Zimbabwe, winning it by 31 runs.

Nicholas Pooran and his team now have a win from two games, moving them up to third place. On Friday, October 21 in Hobart, they will play Ireland, in their final group-stage game.
