England pacer Jofra Archer is reportedly eyeing a comeback from injury in early 2023 when the national side tours South Africa for a 3-match ODI series.
Due to injuries to his back and elbow, which required surgeries as well, the express pacer has been out of action since July 2021 and was also not named in England's T20 World Cup 2022 squad.
The Telegraph reported that Archer might make his comeback in the bilateral series against the Proteas in January 2023. The right-arm seamer had suffered a stress fracture of the elbow before suffering a stress fracture of the back.
He will most likely be a part of England's Test squad for the upcoming Test series against Pakistan in December. But according to reports, Archer won't be in good enough shape to play in the series.

Fans of the Mumbai Indians would feel hopeful because of Jofra's return. The Mumbai franchise paid whopping Rs. 8 crores for the ace pacer at the IPL 2022 mega auction earlier this year. However, his participation depends on how he performs for England and his fitness.
Meanwhile, on Thursday (October 06), Cricket South Africa announced the dates for their rescheduled ODI series with England. The first two games will be played at Bloemfontein's Mangaung Oval on January 27 and 29, and the final ODI will be played on February 1 at Kimberley Oval.
Originally slated to take place in 2020, this series was postponed owing to the Covid-19 outbreak in the South African camp. Notably, this series will take place during the South Africa T20 league.
