Amidst plenty of buzz, the inaugural edition of the Global Power Cricket League (GPCL) T20 kicked off in Delhi on Sunday (October 2).
In the third match of the tournament, English Reds and Scottish Mulberries are facing each other at Yamuna Sports Complex Cricket Ground on Monday (October 3).
England batting great Ian Bell is leading English Reds in the GPCL T20. Bell was one of England’s leading Test batters some years ago. He represented his country in 118 Tests, 161 ODIs and eight T20Is, amassing over 13,000 runs with 26 centuries.
Bell came for the toss along with former West Indies batter Kirk Edwards, who is captaining Scottish Mulberries in the GPCL T20.
Edwards has played 17 Tests and 16 ODIs for the West Indies, amassing over 1300 runs across formats with three centuries.
English Reds skipper Ian Bell won the toss and opted to bat first. Riding on opener Umang’s unbeaten 87 off 62 balls, they piled up 172/4 in their stipulated 20 overs. Adil also played a handy knock of 30-ball 41 while batting at No. 3.
