Saad bin Jung, Bobby Narasimha Rao roped in as commentators for the inaugural GPCL season

The inaugural edition of GPCL is due to be held in Delhi from October 2 to October 9.

Saad bin Jung and Bobby Narasimha Rao | TwitterThere is a lot of excitement around the upcoming Global Power Cricket League (GPCL), slated to get underway in India on October 2.

The inaugural edition of the tournament will feature eight teams, each from different nationalities. The participating teams are from India, Australia, England, USA, Ireland, Scotland, South Africa, and Sri Lanka.

The marquee international cricketers featuring in the competition include Munaf Patel, Yusuf Pathan, Ian Bell, Callum Ferguson, Lahiru Thirimanne, Chadd Sayers, Shaminda Eranga, Narsingh Deonarine, Dilshan Munaweera, Kirk Edwards among others.

Besides, Power Sportz – the organiser of GPCL, has roped in renowned commentators such as Saad Bin Jung and Bobby Narasimha Rao to cover the T20 event.

Talking about their cricketing expertise, Saad Bin Jung played 22 First-Class matches and 4 List A games, scoring over 1000 runs with two centuries whereas Bobby Narasimha Rao represented India in 4 Tests, claiming three wickets. Bobby had a fantastic career in domestic cricket, picking 145 wickets in 108 First-Class matches.

Besides, former India pacer Atul Wassan is also part of the commentary panel. In the 1990s, Atul played 4 Tests and 9 ODIs for India and returned with a total of 21 scalps.

Talking about the GPCL T20, the participating teams have been divided into two groups. Indian Sapphires, English Reds, Scottish Mulberries, and American Indigos feature in Pool A whereas Australian Golds, South African Emeralds, Sri Lankan Violets, and Irish Olives are part of Pool B.

Every team will play three matches in the group stage before the top two teams from each group will move to the semi-final, where the toppers of each pool will take on the second-placed side of the other pool.

Ultimately, the winners of the semi-final will face each other in the final on October 9. All the games will be played at the Yamuna Sports Complex Cricket Ground in New Delhi.

The T20 league will be telecasted in 95 territories worldwide with 21 HD cameras capturing the action, showing skills, emotions, celebrations, and aesthetic graphics to the fans with utmost perfection.
