India’s mystery spinner, Varun Chakravarthy, is currently out of the national team’s scheme of things after his miserable performance in the T20 World Cup 2021 and IPL 2022 wfor KKR.

He made his debut for India in July 2021 on the back of a stunning IPL 2021 season and went on to play 6 T20Is, but he couldn’t impress with the ball at all, as he scalped only 2 wickets in his six appearances in the shortest format of the game.

Then, things went even worse for Chakravarthy, as he was really ineffective for KKR in the IPL 2022, taking only 6 wickets in 11 matches.

Following his failure in the IPL 2022, the mystery spinner hasn't been considered by the Indian team, as he played his last match for the team at the T20 World Cup 2021 against Scotland.

However, Chakravarthy is confident of making a comeback to the Indian cricket team, as he is looking forward to giving his best shot in the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and IPL 2023 to return to contention for the national selection.

Varun Chakravarthy told Sportskeeda in an exclusive interview: “The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy is a very important platform for me. I’m sure that I’ll knock the doors down again because I’ve worked hard. Let’s see, if God is kind enough, I’ll get the chance again. Yeah, exactly. I do know SMAT is going to play an important role, as well as the next IPL. In these two tournaments, if I do well, I’ll get the chance again.”

He signed off by saying, “You can expect a better player both physically and mentally. I’m definitely looking to play for the country. I’ll definitely make a good comeback.”
