Young India spinner Ravi Bishnoi said that dismissing one of the leading batters in the world, Pakistan captain Babar Azam, in the Asia Cup 2022 was a big moment for him, and will cherish Azam’s wicket for life.

The leg-spinner further revealed how he planned Babar’s wicket and even got success in his very first ball against the Pakistan captain in an Asia Cup 2022 match in Dubai.

Notably, Bishnoi bowled a slightly short ball and Babar sent it straight to the man at mid-wicket while trying to hit in through the on-side and India got the first wicket of the match.

Ravi Bishnoi told Sports Tak: “We know how crucial India-Pakistan matches are. So I was ready, and when I got the opportunity, wanted to prove myself. Getting Babar wicket was a big deal because he was recently the No. 1 batsman in the world, and is very technical and sound.”

He continued, “So taking his wicket was a big confidence-booster. My only plan was to bowl on a stump-to-stump line. If he would try to hit shots from there, the chances of him getting out would be higher.”

Meanwhile, the young spinner has been continuously overlooked after that Asia Cup match against Pakistan, but he insisted that he is not losing his sleep over his snub, but looking forward to the bright prospect of traveling with the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2022 to Australia.

Bishnoi said, “I am willing to wait for my opportunity. If the team needs me, I will get my chance I am sure of that. This is a team sports ahead of individuals and I am aware of it. I am not at all upset (at missing out on the World Cup squad).”

He signed off by saying, “I have gotten the role of a stand-by player and even in that role I am sure I will get to learn a lot. I will be with the team, practicing on Australian wickets. For a 22-year-old even going as a stand-by player means a lot.”
