Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri, who stepped down from the position following the conclusion of the T20 World Cup last year, has declared that his time as head coach is over and that he has no interest in returning to the position.

Shastri oversaw India's performance for more than four years as their head coach, which saw the team reaching unparalleled heights, particularly in Test cricket, including a back-to-back series win in Australia. Before that he served as the director of the team from 2014 to 2016.

In an interview with Sports Today, Shastri, who is serving as the commissioner of the Legends League Cricket was asked if he would be interested in working as a coach with the teams in the league. He replied by saying that his time serving as the coach was over.

Shastri continued by saying that he would be working at the grassroots level and will provide coaching in that area but otherwise, he wishes to enjoy the game as a spectator.

"Mera coaching ka hisaab khatham ho gaya (My time with coaching has come to an end). Saath saal jitna karna tha, mein kar liya (For seven years, I have done enough). If I'm doing some coaching, it will be at the grassroots level, for which I have a company that is doing it. I will participate in that. Otherwise, my time as a coach has come to an end. Now I will view the game from far away and enjoy it," said Shastri.

His tenure came to an end with the Men in Blue's two successive defeats in the T20 World Cup last year which eventually led to the team getting knocked out before the knockout stage.
