Sourav Ganguly reveals why he didn’t give advice to Virat Kohli; shares how he dealt with media during his time

Virat Kohli recently scored his first international ton since November 2019.

Virat Kohli | GettyFormer India captain and now BCCI President Sourav Ganguly revealed why he didn’t give any sort of advice to Virat Kohli, who was going through a terrible patch of bad luck with the bat. The former India skipper broke that voodoo by hitting a century against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup 2022 tournament.

Kohli went through a horrid almost three-year period during which he couldn’t score an international century since November 2019 and had a torrid run in IPL 2021 and 2022 as well. However, recently against Afghanistan, Kohli slammed 122* his maiden T20I century and celebrated his return to form.

BCCI president Sourav Ganguly appeared in an episode of "The Ranveer Show" and was asked if he gave Kohli any advice during this time, but he said that he couldn't as he rarely gets to see the star batter.

I don't get to see him (Virat Kohli) as much. I may be the president of the board but the poor guy's always traveling. He's on the road all the time. So you don't get to see him much," he added.

During the same show, Ganguly also said that all players come under the media scanner but he would not be bothered by "half of it" as he would be oblivious to what was being said about him during his playing days. He also revealed how he dealt with media during his time as a cricketer.

"Everybody has been under media scrutiny. Just the names keep changing over a period of time. Half of it I won't get to know because I wouldn't read so much. I would enter hotels and the first thing I would say at the reception is, 'Boss, don't put the newspaper under my door in the morning. But now it's obviously a lot more. Social media, everything is on your computer, on your phone. But I think cricketers find a way to just shut that off,” Ganguly said.
