Duleep Trophy 2022: West Zone’s Ajinkya Rahane, Yashasvi Jaiswal hit double tons; Prithvi Shaw makes century vs NE Zone

Jaiswal and Rahane made double tons, while Shaw made a century for WZ against NEZ | TwitterThe ongoing Duleep Trophy match between West Zone and North East Zone which is being played at the MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai saw the Mumbai trio of Prithvi Shaw, Ajinkya Rahane, and Yashasvi Jaiswal taking full advantage of the opposition bowling attack.

North East Zone captain Hokaito Zhimomi won the toss and chose to bowl first and he would have immediately regretted the choice he made.

Openers Prithvi Shaw and Yashasvi Jaiswal hammered the NE bowling to all parts of the Chepauk as they added 206 runs for the first wicket. Shaw was his usual self as he made 113 in 121 balls with 11 fours and 5 sixes to his name, before getting out to Ankur Malik.

The West Zone skipper Ajinkya Rahane joined Jaiswal in the middle and the duo continued punishing the less experienced NE bowlers and raked up 333 runs in the second wicket partnership.

In due course, Yashasvi Jaiswal made 228 in 321 balls with 22 fours and 3 sixes to his name, before becoming the victim of Rongsen Jonathan.  Jaiswal was amazing in his composure and played shots all around the ground.

In the meantime, Rahane reached his also completed his double century and at stumps, had made 207* runs in 264 balls with 18 fours and 6 sixes to his name and had added 51* runs with Rahul Tripathi (25*).

West Zone had put on 590/2 in 123 overs at the end of the second day. For North East Zone, Ankur Malik and Rongsen Jonathan were the wicket-takers.
