Sourav Ganguly’s Facebook blunder ruins e-commerce brand's promotional campaign

Ganguly's social media team's blunder caused a huge upset for the e-commerce site's campaign.

Multiple celebrities were roped in for Meesho's upcoming saleSeveral celebrities like Deepika Padukone, Karthi and Rashmika Mandanna, comedian Kapil Sharma and cricketers Sourav Ganguly and Rohit Sharma shared the poster of ‘Mega Blockbuster’ on their social media accounts on Thursday.

Each celebrity shared a poster starring themselves as the main lead, giving rise to speculation that they had all collaborated for a big-budget movie or TV series.

However, everything was ruined for the brand that was using these celebrities to promote their upcoming sale, thanks to a blunder on part of Sourav Ganguly revealing that the campaign was being run by e-commerce site Meesho.

It seems Meesho didn’t want to reveal itself as the company behind ‘Mega Blockbuster’. Celebrities involved in the promotional stunt were likely sent a script to share while uploading their poster.

But Sourav Ganguly’s social media team mistakenly copy-pasted the whole script including the instruction: “Please ensure that Meesho brand name or Meesho hashtag is nowhere mentioned in the September 1 post.”

Although Ganguly’s team immediately rectified their mistake and reposted the creative correctly, the damage was done already as many people had screenshotted the blunder which was shared on social media.
