Jasprit Bumrah likely to return to action during Australia or South Africa white-ball series – Report

India will host Australia and South Africa for a white-ball series next month.

Jasprit Bumrah | GettyEarlier this month, Team India suffered a massive blow as pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah got ruled out of the Asia Cup 2022 due to a back injury.

While Bumrah is currently undergoing rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore, it is the fear of him potentially missing the T20 World Cup 2022 that gives the Indian fans a headache.

Amid the concerns, a member of the BCCI selection committee has confirmed that Bumrah is progressing well and should be able to return for either Australia or the South Africa home series.

After the Asia Cup 2022, India will host Australia and South Africa for a white-ball series. While the Men in Blue will play three T20Is against Australia, they will take on the Proteas in three T20Is and as many ODIs.

“He has made good progress on his recovery. We are in constant touch with the physios. Nitin (Patel) is keeping a regular tab while he is away from NCA. We are hopeful that he will be coming back in Australia or South Africa series and definitely for T20 World Cup. But it’s still too early to say,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.

The status of Jasprit Bumrah's recovery isn’t known yet. Earlier this month, a BCCI official had expressed concern over the fast bowler’s injury, which as per him, is an old one.

“Yes, it’s concerning. He is back in rehab and will get the best medical advice available. The problem is it’s his old injury and that is what is concerning. We have just two months left for the World Cup and he has got this injury at the worst possible time. We are closely monitoring his condition. He is the best bowler in cricket and needs to be carefully managed,” an official had told InsideSport.
