WATCH: “Credit to Scotland bowlers,” Babar Azam's embarrassing gaffe goes viral after ODI series win over Netherlands

Pakistan completed a 3-0 whitewash over Netherlands in the ODI series.

Babar Azam | TwitterPakistan completed a 3-0 whitewash over Netherlands in the ODI series, with a nervy 9-run victory in the third and final game in Rotterdam on Sunday (August 21).

Opting to bat first, the visitors got bowled out for a paltry 206 in 49.4 overs. Babar Azam was the lone fighter with the bat, scoring 91 off 125 balls.

In reply, the hosts fell agonizingly short of the target despite half-centuries from Tom Cooper (62) and Vikramjit Singh (50).

Naseem Shah (5-33) and Mohammad Wasim Jr (4-36) were the chief destroyers with the ball as they shared nine scalps between them, helping Pakistan skittle out Netherlands for 197 in 49.2 overs.

After the thrilling encounter, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam's comment in the post-match presentation ceremony caught everyone’s attention as he referred the Netherlands team as "Scotland".

Babar acknowledged the difficult batting conditions and credited the opposition bowlers. In the process, however, he ended up making an embarrassing gaffe.

"We tried our bench strength. Early on the ball wasn't coming on well. We were short in the first innings. But credit to the Scotland bowlers who bowled very well," Babar said.

“We are happy as a team. All credit to boys. They bowled very well in the second innings. He's (Naseem) bowling very well with the new ball and in the death overs. Wasim also bowling well. And Dahani,” he further added.
