Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik talked about the coaching style of Ravi Shastri and pointed out things that he could not tolerate during his tenure.

Ravi Shastri’s stint as the Indian head coach was one of the finest. Over his tenure of four years, he helped Team India achieve new heights.

Under him, the Indian cricket team became one of the most consistent sides in all three formats of the game, winning the series both at home as well as in away conditions.

Shastri always used to put himself in front when the team suffered a loss but at times, he was also very vocal about his disappointment with the players. The former Indian cricketer publicly criticized Cheteshwar Pujara for his poor running and Rishabh Pant for his poor shot selection.

Speaking on Cricbuzz docu-series 'Summer Stalemate', Dinesh Karthik highlighted things that Shastri didn’t like as a coach. He said that the former Indian coach knew what he wanted to do and his tolerance for failures was very less as he pushed players to do well.

“He had a very low tolerance for somebody who wouldn’t bat at a certain pace he did not like or someone who was doing very differently in the nets and in the match, he would go and bat differently.

He would not be very appreciative of that. Shastri knew exactly what he wanted from the team, the way in which it was played but his tolerance was very little for failures. He always used to push people to do very well," Dinesh Karthik said.

Karthik talked about Shastri as a player and as a coach and lauded him for pushing players to achieve something.

"I think Shastri the player was somebody who was probably not as talented but fulfilled his talent as a coach. He did much better than what he was expected to do. As a coach, he was a larger-than-life person. He was somebody who pushed players to try and achieve special things," he said.

After his tenure as an Indian head coach came to an end, Shastri has again started commentary duties.
