Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) became the latest franchise in South Africa’s new T20 League to announce its name. The Sun Group-owned IPL franchise SRH brought the team based in Port Elizabeth in the CSA T20 League which will be played in January next year.
On Tuesday, August 16, the SRH took to their social media handle to announce their Port Elizabeth-based franchise should be known as "Sunrisers Eastern Cape" in the CSA T20 League.
Sharing Sunrisers Eastern Cape’s official Twitter, the SRH welcomed the Sunrisers Eastern Cape to the Orange Army. They tweeted: “The #OrangeArmy just got bigger. Sunrisers Eastern Cape will be our team name in the Cricket South Africa T20 League ????.”
Meanwhile, Sunrisers Eastern Cape also announced the signing of South African batter Aiden Markram and uncapped South African pacer Ottneil Baartman as their first two signings in the league.

Notably, Markram played for SRH at IPL 2022, where he scored 381 runs from 14 games during the season. He is a regular member of the South African team and has captained the side in past as well.
