The owners of the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) recently bought the Johannesburg-based franchise in Cricket South Africa's (CSA) newly established T20 League.

The CSA T20 League has already announced the signing of 30 marquee players ahead of the auction, which is likely to take place in the coming weeks. However, the CSK owners are yet to name their new team in South Africa’s T20 League, but they are keen to bring their IPL staff to the new league.

It is being said that the CSK management is eyeing their captain, MS Dhoni, for the mentor's role with their head coach Stephen Fleming in the same role for the Johannesburg-based franchise.

However, Fleming’s appointment could be possible, but Dhoni's involvement will be subject to approval from the BCCI, as the former Indian skipper is still part of the IPL.

According to Cricbuzz, CSK has already signed Faf du Plessis and Moeen Ali for the CSA’s T20 League and is looking to rope in Dhoni and Fleming to repeat their IPL success in the new tournament.

A CSK official was quoted as saying by Insidesport: “You will know the official name by this week. We are currently in talks with Stephen as we can’t think of any better person to carry forward the CSK legacy in a new venture. Dhoni’s involvement will depend on BCCI’s clearance. He won’t be playing but could be in some role if BCCI permits.”
