India versus Pakistan cricket matches are always thrilling for the fans and enjoyed across the world, but they are always a high-pressure game for the players, thanks to the off-field rivalry between the two nations.

India and Pakistan have played 12 matches in the ICC Cricket World Cups and the Men in Green could manage to win a single match – in last year’s T20 World Cup – while Team India won the rest of the matches. The old foes are now set to face off on August 28 in the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 in the UAE.

The two teams will then again lock horns against each other in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2022 on October 23 in Melbourne in a group stage match.

Well, ahead of the high-octane clash, Pakistan batter Sohaib Maqsood explained why the Men in Green struggle to win World Cup matches against India.

He believes that overexcitement is the reason behind Pakistan’s consistent defeats in the World Cups against India. But he stressed Pakistan’s performance against Team India has improved a lot over the years, and the result in the T20 World Cup 2021 is proof of that.

Sohaib Maqsood told Geo News: “The reason for the green shirts’ consistent defeat against India in World Cup matches is because the Pakistani team became overexcited (sic).”

The batter added, “However, in the recent past, our team has started treating Indo-Pak matches normally, and it has improved our performance too.”
