Former Indian cricketer Parthiv Patel revealed how Sourav Ganguly used to make everyone feel good when the team didn’t have a good outing.

Ganguly led the country to great heights in the game of cricket. The southpaw is credited for ushering a new era in Indian cricket, winning matches and series abroad. He led India to the 2002 Natwest Trophy and the Champions Trophy, to go with a runner-up finish at the 2003 World Cup.

Ganguly had the vision to make the Indian team for the future and the impact of what he achieved during his captaincy is still visible in Indian cricket today. He led India in 146 ODIs, winning 76 of these matches to go with 21 Test victories in 49 appearances as captain.

Speaking in an audio chatroom session of 'CricChat Powered by Parimatch' on the Sharechat app, Parthiv Patel said that whenever they didn’t have a good game, Ganguly used to make everyone feel good as he had Marigold biscuits with him and he gave that to everyone.

“If our day wasn't going too well, or the game did not go well, he used to make everyone feel good. He always used to carry Marigold biscuits along with him and handed them out to everybody," said Parthiv Patel.

Patel also talked about India’s squad selection for the T20 World Cup 2022. He said that selecting the right team will determine the result for them. He believes that Australia can give tough competition to them as they are very strong.

“The selection of the right team will determine the result for India. Rohit Sharma, and Rahul Dravid have a big responsibility to come up with the best combination for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup.

"Australia could give a tough competition to India since the team seems strong. Even England and South Africa have improved their games as compared to the last World Cup, but Australia looks like a much stronger contender,” he said.

The Indian team is currently playing the T20I series against West Indies. The second-string side is now slated to travel to Zimbabwe for the ODI series before they go to UAE for Asia Cup 2022.
