Virat Kohli’s ongoing poor run of form is part of the game- Mohammad Yousuf

Yousuf called Kohli the no.1 player in cricket in last 10 years.

Virat Kohli | GettyIndia batter Virat Kohli’s inability to score a ton since November 2019 and his ongoing sharp decline in run scoring has gotten everybody from his fans to cricket pundits worried about his future in the game.

Kohli was recently rested from the ongoing West Indies white-ball tour after having a dismal outing against England in the one-off Test and the white-ball matches. It remains to be seen whether he returns in India colors on their tour to Zimbabwe or in the Asia Cup which will be played in UAE.

Many experts have shared their views on what is going wrong with Virat Kohli with the bat and now former Pakistani captain Mohammad Yousuf has also added his two cents to the conversation.

Yousuf said that the patch through which Kohli is going right now, is just a part of the game and every cricketer has experienced the same downtime in their careers. He also said that Kohli himself knows better what is going on with him.

"This is a part of the game where a player goes out of form. It has been a lengthier patch for him. But what he has contributed so far, after Sachin Tendulkar, is the player to make that kind of a contribution. He has scored 71 centuries, within a span off 11 years, especially in white-ball cricket. In Tests, he could not do as much as he did in white-ball cricket. However, he has scored 27 Test tons as well. For me, this is a part of the game. Maybe it has to do with the way he has been treated that he has gone under pressure. He would know better," Yousuf said during a chat with Pakistan channel ARY News.

Virat Kohli might not have scored a century in international cricket for quite some time, but half-centuries and important scores of 50s-70s were flowing from his bat regularly. But in the last year and a half, he has struggled big time to get to a half-century as well. He struggled in IPL 2022 as well with the bat, despite stepping down as RCB captain.

"But for me the way he has performed, he is the best player of the last 10 years or so. Among the players who have played cricket in the last 10 years, he has been the No. 1 player," Yousuf added.
