Robin Uthappa extended his support to the struggling Virat Kohli and said that people do not have the right to question his form and his place in the Indian cricket team.
Kohli has been under the microscope of cricket pundits and fans over his poor performance with the bat in all three formats of the game.
He hasn’t scored an international century since November 2019, and while he was scoring half-centuries for the team, in the past year and a half, those have dried up as well.
The dashing right-hander was rested for the ongoing West Indies tour, as many were calling for a break for the skipper as he had been struggling for runs for a long time.

While some raised doubts over Kohli’s place in Team India, Uthappa found it harsh as he had already established himself as one of the legends.
Robin Uthappa said on ‘CricChat Powered by Parimatch’: “When he (Virat Kohli) was scoring runs when he was hitting hundred after hundred, nobody said he should play like this or that. Now, I don't think we have any right to tell him how to play. He has scored 70 hundreds thanks to his own abilities and he will score another 30 or 35 also on his own abilities."
"We need to just leave him alone and let him play cricket. He knows what works best for him and I believe once he acknowledges his problem, he will be able to sort it out on his own. All we need to do is give him space to be himself," he added.
Virat Kohli was rested for the West Indies tour which is currently going on, despite many experts suggesting he should have played this series to try and get back into form. Uthappa also shared his opinion on the same.
"If he feels it is fit for him to take a break, then he can take a break. If he feels he has to play a certain series or tournament, allow him to play. Don't bring his spot into question. He is a match-winner, one of the proven match-winners and he is the best in the world. We have no right and authority or no ground to stand on and question his ability to win matches or question his position in our team," Uthappa added.
