Veteran India wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha has been bestowed with Banga Bhushan Samman by the West Bengal government.
Saha, who recently parted ways with the Bengal state team due to personal reasons and joined Tripura domestic side as player-cum-mentor, was given the award by the Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee at an event organized at Nazrul Manch in Kolkata.

Taking to Twitter, Saha thanked CM Banerjee and the Bengal government of Bengal for considering him for this award.
"I am thankful to Hon’ble CM @MamataOfficial Didi, Government of West Bengal and the administration for considering me for this award. I am truly honored to receive this, I extend my heartfelt gratitude," he tweeted on Monday (July 25).
According to a report in News18 Bangla, CM Mamata Banerjee asked Saha why he left the Bengal domestic team. To which, the 37-year-old replied that if an opportunity arises he will return in the future.
Former Bengal skipper Manoj Tiwary, who represented India in 12 ODIs and 3 T20Is, congratulated Saha on receiving the prestigious award.
“Congratulations @Wriddhipops on getting the prestigious Banga Bhushan Samman by the Honourable Government of West Bengal. Playing with you has always been a pleasure and you thoroughly deserve this moment,” Tiwary wrote.
“You have always been a special cricketer & a very special human being! Cheers brother!” he added.
Having made his domestic debut in 2007, Wriddhiman Saha has featured in 122 first-class and 102 List A games. He has also represented India in 40 Tests and 9 ODIs.
