Former India women’s team captain Anjum Chopra has backed Virat Kohli to regain form, saying that it is only about time that the batting maverick is back among runs.
The cricketing community has been divided into two camps over Kohli’s batting woes. While one group includes the legendary all-rounder Kapil Dev suggesting to drop the star batter if his poor form continues, the other group includes the likes of Ricky Ponting and most recently Anjum Chopra who believe that the veteran batter will return to form shortly.
In the recently concluded England tour, Virat had a disappointing performance that began with him scoring 31 runs in both innings of the Edgbaston Test, continued with 12 runs in 2 T20Is, and ended with just 33 runs in three ODIs.
Anjum Chopra feels that because of the bar Kohli has set for himself, the 30s and 40s appear to look like an off-day to everyone.
"I have seen players scoring 30s and 40s and surviving in the Indian team for years. But from his bat, the 30s and 40s look less because of the standard he has set for himself. I am sure that it will be a matter of time that he will be back among runs for the Indian team," she said in an exclusive interaction with ANI.

Anjum further stated that constant practice is the only way to overcome poor form.
"Virat Kohli himself knows what he needs. When you do not score as per your standards, you practice more. I am sure that he is practicing, is doing, and will keep doing everything to back in form. The way international cricket goes, practice is the only way out," she added.
Every athlete experiences a poor phase, according to Anjum Chopra, therefore a slump in the 33-year-old’s game was inevitable at some point.
"A player can only try and make the effort. And a player like him must be trying and trying to get out of the slump. But sometimes, things do not go your way. The kind of adulation and focus he has had on him over the years, this dip was bound to happen sometime," she said.
