WATCH: Glamorgan's Sam Northeast registers highest score of 21st century; reaches his quadruple ton with a six

It is just the 11th individual score of 400-plus in the history of first-class cricket.

Sam Northeast | ScreengrabGlamorgan's Sam Northeast on Saturday (July 23) slammed 410 not out against Leicestershire in the English County Championship – the ninth highest score of all time in first-class cricket.

Thanks to Northeast’s marathon knock, Glamorgan piled up a gigantic 795/5 on the board. It is the highest score of the 21st century and just the 11th individual score of 400-plus in the history of first-class cricket.

Sam Northeast notched up his quadruple ton with a six back over the bowler's head. As far as the history of the County Championship is concerned – it is the third-highest score. The all-time record is held by West Indies batting legend Brian Lara, who had smashed 501 not out while playing for Warwickshire against Durham in 1994.

10 years later, Lara created another history as he scored 400 not out for West Indies against England – the only quadruple century in the history of Test cricket.

Apart from Lara and Northeast, the only other quadruple century in England has been registered by Archie MacLaren (424 not out) while playing for Lancashire against Somerset at Taunton in 1895.

Coming to the match, Glamorgan leads Leicestershire by 211 runs at lunch on the final day of the four-day match in division two of the County Championship.
