Wriddhiman Saha will join as player-cum-mentor, confirms Tripura Cricket Association

Saha will sign an agreement with TCA by July 15.

Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) joint secretary Kishore Das, on Tuesday (July 5), confirmed that the veteran wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha will join the state team as a player-mentor.

He has already received a NOC from the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) to join the Tripura team.

Mr. Kishore Das revealed that Saha will sign an agreement with TCA by July 15 and he is expected to play in the Ranji Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy matches for Tripura.

TCA joint secretary Kishore Das told PTI: “We have had talks with Saha and he has agreed to play for the state. He will also act as a mentor for the senior team to motivate the players. It is not yet finalized whether he will be made the captain of the team. This will be decided later.”

Notably, Saha made his debut for Bengal against Hyderabad in 2007 and played 122 first-class and 102 List A games for the side. He has so far taken 313 catches and 37 stumpings apart from scoring 6,423 runs in first-class cricket for Bengal.

Saha also has 92 catches and 12 stumpings to his name in Test cricket. The wicketkeeper amassed 1,353 runs with the help of three centuries in 40 Test matches for India.
