Sri Lanka’s batting ace Chamari Athapaththu came to the fore in the third and final T20I of the series against India, as she helped the home side save some pride by winning the match by 7 wickets as he led from the front with a brilliant half-century.
India came into this match with hopes of white-washing the Sri Lankans and Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and chose to bat. She also top-scored with 39* as India made 138/5 in 20 overs. Jemimah Rodrigues (33), S Meghana, and Smriti Mandhana with 22 each were other contributors.
In the chase, Chamari Athapaththu led with a sublime 80* in 48 balls with 14 fours and 1 six and with help from Nilakshi de Silva’s 30, took the Sri Lanka team home in 17 overs and with 7 wickets to spare.
