Pakistan fast bowling legend Wasim Akram revealed how he would have bowled to Indian batter Virat Kohli had he been bowling in the current scenario. Considered to be the greatest left-arm fast bowler ever and one of the all-time greats in world cricket, Akram bowling to Kohli would be a dream come true for any cricket fan.
Virat Kohli, who made his India debut in 2008, has gone on to become a modern-day legend with more than 8000 runs in 101 Tests, more than 12,000 runs in 260 ODIs, and almost 3300 runs in 97 T20I matches for India with a cumulative 70 centuries in international cricket.
But if he were to take guard against former Pakistan captain Akram, what would it have been like? Well, from Akram's point of view, he has his plan sorted.
"I would have had a lot of confidence. If he came to bat at 3 or 4, it means two wickets down. If he is new to the crease, then I would attack. Will make the ball pitch on middle stump, and swing it away, or towards him," Akram said on the 'To Be Honest' show by Nashpati Prime.
"If that doesn't work, I would switch to Plan B, which would be bowling the bouncer. Place the fielder in the deep and then put him back inside… making several such small chances are important to get the better of him,” he added.
Wasim Akram played 104 Tests and 356 ODIs for Pakistan from 1984-2003 and amassed 414 Test wickets and was the first bowler to 500 wickets in ODIs, finishing with 502 scalps to his name. He was Player of the Final in Pakistan’s 1992 World Cup triumph and captained the side to the final of the 1999 World Cup.
