Wriddhiman Saha, a noted India keeper-batter, stirred a huge controversy in February this year when he shared screenshots of a conversation with a journalist on his official Twitter account, in which the said journalist was seen threatening him after being refused an interview.

Saha had shared screenshots of his conversation with Majumdar after the player did not revert to his request for an interview.

“You did not call, never again will I interview you. I don’t take insults kindly. And I will remember this. This wasn’t something ypu (you) should have done,” the screenshot read.

This led to huge chaos and noted journalist Boria Majumdar came out to defend himself in a video and was later banned for two years by the BCCI from all affiliated associations and tournaments after a probe report by a committee on charges leveled by Saha.

Now after some time, Saha has shed further light on the matter and said that he wanted to show how far the journalists were willing to go for an interview and that Majumdar had “done such things before” as well.

“My purpose was to show that a journalist can go to these lengths to get an interview. I got to know later that he has done such things before as well, that is why BCCI stepped in and punished him. I didn't speak initially because I'm under contract with BCCI,” Saha told Sports Today.

Saha said that he was prompted to go public with the screenshots of messages after Majumdar didn’t show any regret for his actions.

“I also didn't feel like speaking about it in the first place, because at the end of the day, everyone has their own careers. But if the other person doesn't even have any regret, how long can you stay silent?” said Saha.

Recently, Saha applied for a NOC from the Cricket Association of Bengal and reportedly is moving to Tripura in a coach-cum-player role.
