The second ODI between Pakistan and West Indies not only saw the home side thumping the visitors, but it also saw a pitch-invader and Shadab Khan winning the hearts of many with their gestures in Multan.

The incident took place before the fourth ball of the 39th over in Pakistan’s innings. Shadab, who was batting on 9, was ready to play but the on-field umpires halted the game as they saw a spectator running into the ground.

The invader came running towards Shadab and gave him a salute. Pakistan vice-captain in return hugged him, which prompted a huge cheer from the crowd. The fan then ran back in joy, waving and jumping.

Former West Indies cricketer-turned-commentator, Ian Bishop, was also in awe of the incident and called it a great moment.

“Great moment just now when a spectator ran onto the field. Instead of being violent with him (because it could have been dangerous, plus COVID), Shadab Khan hugged him and sent him on his way. #Beautiful. P:S,,,I understand all the reasons why that is frowned upon,” Ian Bishop Tweeted.

Coming to the match between the second ODI between the teams, Pakistan thumped West Indies by 120 runs to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the 3-match ODI series.

Batting first, on account of half-centuries by Imam-ul-Haq (72) and skipper Babar Azam (77), the hosts posted a total of 275 runs on the board. Mohammad Nawaz starred with the ball and took a four-wicket haul that helped his side bundle out the opposition for just 155 runs.
