Ranji Trophy 2022: Bengal sports minister Manoj Tiwary scores century in the quarterfinal against Jharkhand

Though the match ended in a draw, Bengal qualified for the semis on 1st innings lead.

Manoj Tiwary | BCCI TwitterManoj Tiwary, who is incidentally the sports minister for state in Mamata Banerjee’s TMC government in Bengal, scored a century in the quarterfinal against Jharkhand in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2022.

Though the match ended in a draw, Bengal proceeded to the semi-finals on basis of the first-innings lead.

Bengal had made 773/7 declared after creating a unique world record as all the 9 batters who took the crease crossed the 50-run mark, something that happened for the first time in First-Class cricket history. Sudip Gharami and Anustup Majumdar scored centuries.

In reply, Jharkhand managed 298 with Virat Singh making 113* with Sayan Mondal and Shahbaz Ahmed taking four wickets each.

In the second innings, Bengal declared on 318/7 with Manoj Tiwary scoring 136 runs with 19 fours and 2 sixes before getting run out. Shahbaz Nadeem for Jharkhand picked 5/59 as the match ended in a draw.
