Ravindra Jadeja's performances with the bat and ball in addition to his gun fielding have gotten him a lot of praises throughout his career. This time though, it's the all-rounder's philanthropic activity that has caught netizens' attention.
On Wednesday (June 08), Jadeja and his wife, on the occasion of their daughter's fifth birthday, stepped forward to promote a good cause. At the Jamnagar post office, the couple opened 101 Sukanya Samridhi accounts. They've also put Rs 11,000 into each account. Jadeja took to Twitter to inform his fans.
Here’s the tweet:
The Sukanya Samriddhi scheme, according to the National Savings Institute, encourages women to save for their daughters' education. A minimum deposit of Rs 250 is required to open the account. When the girl reaches the age of 21, the account matures.
The 33-year-old had tied the knot with Rivaba in 2016. The couple’s daughter was born in 2017.
On the work front, despite some ups and downs in recent months, Jadeja has maintained his position as the top all-rounder in the latest ICC Test all-rounder rankings.
After MS Dhoni announced his resignation as the skipper in March, Jadeja was given the leadership of the Chennai Super Kings. In IPL 2022, the all-rounder failed to make a mark, both in terms of individual performance and as a team leader. He scored a meager 116 runs in 10 games.
The Saurashtra cricketer ultimately stepped down as the CSK skipper. He was later ruled out of the IPL after a bruised rib.
While the all-rounder was left out of India's team for the recent T20I series against South Africa, he will play in the upcoming Test against England. The Test, which was postponed owing to COVID-19 concerns last year, will be held at Edgbaston from July 1 to 5.
