Pakistan and West Indies are all set to play a three-match ODI series from June 8, with all matches to be held at the Multan Cricket Stadium, announced the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on May 31.

This ODI series was originally scheduled to be played last year, but due to COVID-19 infections, it was postponed to June 2022. The three-match ODI series, which is part of the ODI Super League, will be played on June 8, 10, and 12.

Now, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has again been forced to make major changes, earlier, the ODI series was to be played in Rawalpindi, but now the series has been shifted to Multan due to planned protest rallies in the coming days.

It is being said that Imran Khan, former Pakistan Prime Minister and cricket captain, is planning protest rallies in the federal capital Islamabad, which is near Rawalpindi, and it forced the PCB to shift the upcoming ODI series against the West Indies from Rawalpindi to Multan.

Meanwhile, Multan is the only available venue to host international matches for Pakistan at the moment, as the PCB is re-laying the pitches at the National Stadium in Karachi and Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Given that, the PCB had already kept Multan as a backup option for the West Indies series.

It is being said that the West Indies team will arrive in Islamabad on June 6 and will travel to Multan on a charter flight the same day, just two days before the ODI series. There will be no bio-secure bubble for the ODI series.

Notably, Pakistan will play international matches during the summer for the first time. Since the temperature will be high next month, the PCB is planning to start the games at 4 PM local time.
