Former England captain Alastair Cook has had one of the most successful cricketing careers in the history of the game. However, he recently met his match in the form of a youngster. During a country club match in Potton, England, the opening batter was clean bowled by Kyran Shackleton, a 15-year-old.

A video of the England great’s dismissal has the internet by storm. In the clip, Cook can be seen trying to hit the ball towards the cover region but missing his mark completely. The 15-year-old bowled the southpaw for just 20 runs.

Here’s the clip:

The caption for the video said, "The moment cricket star Sir Alastair Cook was bowled by 15-year-old local youngster Kyran in Potton this evening." Over 100,000 people have watched the video.

On May 23, Potton Town CC and Bedfordshire Young Farmers (of whom Alastair Cook is a member) played a match. The game was won by Potton Town by 26 runs. Potton's Kyran Shackleton was the standout bowler, taking four wickets, including that of Cook.

The former international cricketer has been in a phenomenal touch. He struck centuries in both innings of a county cricket match between Essex and Yorkshire earlier this month. The match concluded in a draw.

The 37-year-old last played an international match in 2018 and is still one of Test cricket's leading run-scorers. He led his country in 57 Tests, the most by any individual. He's also made the most consecutive Test appearances for his country (159).

Cook is the highest run-getter in his country and the fifth highest in the world, with 12472 runs in 161 games at 45.4 runs per game.

Having struck 33 centuries and 57 half-centuries in the longest format, the former English cricketer was equally impressive in one-day internationals, scoring 3,204 runs in 92 matches.
