After returning to Hyderabad a few seasons back, senior batter Ambati Rayudu could once again turn up for Baroda in the upcoming domestic season.
Rayudu, who has had his fair share of run-ins with various cricket establishments over his career, appears to have hit a dead end with HCA and wants to switch state once more.
“Ambati Rayadu had approached us before the start of the IPL and expressed his desire to play for us," a senior Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) official told PTI on conditions of anonymity.
“We then put up the matter before the Apex Council and the Apex Council is open for the move," the official added.
However, the official maintained that things will be worked out. In his domestic career, Ambati Rayudu has spent four seasons with Baroda.
The 36-year-old, who plays for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL, made headlines recently when he deleted his "retirement" tweet after CSK management intervened.
“I am happy to announce that this will be my last ipl. I have had a wonderful time playing it and being a part of 2 great teams for 13 years. Would love to sincerely thank Mumbai Indians and Csk for the wonderful journey," he tweeted before deleting it a few minutes later.
CSK head coach Stephen Fleming responded to a question about the viral tweet by calling it a "storm in a teacup."
“It was not disappointing, it was probably a little bit of a storm in a teacup, to be honest. But, I think he was fine. It has not changed anything in the camp but it is a non-story," Fleming had said.
The right-hander had a forgettable outing in ongoing IPL, managing 274 runs in 13 innings at an average of 24.91.
Rayudu has played 97 first-class matches, wherein he has scored 6,151 runs. Apart from that, he has represented India in 55 ODIs, scoring 1694 runs and 42 runs from 6 T20Is.
The Indian domestic cricket season usually starts in September-October.
