Saha was reportedly named in Bengal Ranji squad without his consent.

Over the last 5-6 months, Wriddhiman Saha has been in the news a lot lately, from being left out of the Indian Test team, to the incident with journalist Boria Majumdar.

The recent incident happened when Saha was selected in Bengal's Ranji Trophy squad for the knockout game a few days ago, but it was reported that he was picked without his consent or information.

Due to personal reasons, Saha had already opted out of Bengal's Ranji Trophy campaign. The Cricket Association of Bengal is said to have questioned his 'intent' at that point.

According to his wife, the entire experience 'hurt' Saha, and the seasoned stumper is now seeking a NOC to leave the state.

“A few months ago, when Wriddhi decided to skip the Ranji Trophy league stage due to personal reasons, a certain CAB official gave a statement to the media doubting his commitment. Being a senior player, who has given so much to Bengal cricket, Wriddhi was hurt with such statements,” Saha’s wife Romi Mitra was quoted as saying by Sportstar.

“After the squad was announced last night, he spoke to Mr. Dalmiya today and discussed the entire issue. The CAB president told him to reconsider and play the knockouts, but Wriddhi told him that he is not in a position to play for Bengal again after so many questions were raised about his commitment,” Romi further added.

When asked about the topic, CAB president Avishek Dalmiya indicated the conversation will be kept secret.

"Any discussion that happens between a player and an organization is strictly between that player and the organization. I would like to completely refrain from making any comments at this stage," said Dalmiya.

While the NOC has not yet been issued, it will be interesting to see how the debate unfolds in the coming days.
