Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal paid a heartfelt tribute to his former Mumbai Indians (MI) teammate and Australia’s legendary all-rounder, Andrew Symonds, who passed away on Saturday night (May 14) in a car accident outside of Townsville, Queensland.
Symonds, a two-time World Cup winner with Australia, passed away after succumbing to the injuries he sustained when his car rolled off the side of the road. Medical professionals tried to revive Symonds, but their efforts went in vain, as the former cricketer lost his life on the accident spot.
Following the death, tributes poured in for Symonds and Chahal. He also wrote a heartfelt note for his friend, whom he referred to as his closest person.
Sharing a couple of delightful pictures with Symonds, Chahal wrote on Twitter: “Today I have lost my closest man. You were just not a colleague My family, my man My Symonds uncle ❤️ I will miss you terribly RIP ????????????.”
Notably, Chahal and Symonds were teammates at Mumbai Indians (MI) during the IPL 2011, which was the Aussie legend’s last season in the tournament.
