Former Australia cricketer Andrew Symonds dies in a car accident

Symonds succumbed to his injuries after the car left the road and rolled.

 Andrew Symonds | GettyIn a tragic news, former Australia all-rounder Andrew Symonds has passed away in a car crash. The 46-year-old was involved in a single-car accident outside Townsville in Queensland state on Saturday (May 14) night.

Police said emergency services attempted to revive the driver and sole occupant, but Symonds succumbed to his injuries after the car left the road and rolled.

While authorities didn’t take the name of Symonds, he was recognized by multiple media outlets and former players.

Andrew Symonds' shocking demise comes just months after the death of Australian spin legend Shane Warne, who had passed away due to a suspected heart attack.

The flamboyant Symonds was hugely popular among the fans for his hard-hitting batting and his easy-going personality.

Symonds played 26 Tests, 198 ODIs and 14 T20Is for Australia, scoring more than 6887 runs across formats with 8 centuries. He also claimed 165 wickets in international cricket.

Andrew Symonds was also a key member of the Australian team that won back-to-back 50-over World Cups in 2003 and 2007.
