Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif earlier this week made a big statement on two of the best modern-day batters - Virat Kohli and Babar Azam.

Fans trolled Latif shortly after he made the remarks, which he put out on Twitter, although he later clarified his comments on Friday (April 8).

Sir Alex Ferguson, the manager of Manchester United from 1986 to 2013 had once famously said, "Give me ten planks of wood and Zidane and I will win the Champions League."

Rashid Latif gave his own touch to the famous words while speaking on his YouTube show 'Caught Behind' as he said, "Give me Babar Azam, Virat Kohli, and nine pieces of wood and I will win you the World Cup."

Fans flooded in with amusing memes after the video went viral on social media. He stated in an interview with Cricket Den on Friday that it was his habit to come up with such one-liners.

“I follow a lot of football. It was my way of praising them. Virat and Babar, I brought them together and I made them great, of this era. That is my opinion again. Don't know why people got serious? I tend to come up with such one-liners,” he said.

Pakistan, led by Babar Azam, just completed a home series against Australia. The tourists won the three-match Test series (1-0), but the hosts won the ODI series (2-1) before losing the one-off T20I.

Virat Kohli, on the other hand, is busy with the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He is playing as a specialist batter for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) this season.
