Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has said that he doesn't want his son to take up cricket as a profession because he doesn't want him to go through all the hellish experiences he went through in recent times.
Once a celebrated captain, who led his team to dominance in T20 cricket, and victory in the ICC 2017 Champions Trophy tournament, Sarfaraz Ahmed was sacked from his job after Pakistan failed to reach the semi-finals of the ICC 2019 World Cup, where they finished fifth in the points table.
Since then, the Pakistan team has moved on and while Sarfaraz has been part of the national squad, he has rarely got to play a game to get included in the playing XI, as Mohammad Rizwan has become the no.1 wicketkeeper of the team in all three formats.
The former Pakistan skipper was excluded from Pakistan’s squad in all three formats in the recently concluded Australia tour of Pakistan 2022. While Australia won the Test series and one-off T20I match, Pakistan triumphed in the three-match ODI series.

Talking about the treatment meted to him, Sarfaraz Ahmed has said that he doesn't want his son, Abdullah, to take up the sport and become a cricketer.
"Abdullah is passionate about playing cricket. But I don't want him to become a cricketer. Actually, being a cricketer, I suffered many things that I don't want Abdullah to face. It's human nature. Being a cricketer, I want my brother or son to be selected immediately. Otherwise, it hurts," Sarfaraz said during an interview on a local channel, as reported by Cricket Pakistan.
Former Pakistan wicketkeeper Moin Khan and ex-Indian tennis star Sania Mirza have complimented Abdullah's abilities, praising his early cricketing impressions.
Ahmed isn't completely opposed to Abdullah’s desire to play cricket, but he believes he should fight his way to the top without seeking outside help.
"A lot of people said to me that Abdullah is talented and I should let him play cricket. Moin Bhai had praised Abdullah's skills, also, Sania Mirza once told me that Abdullah has the potential to become a cricketer. But I want him to achieve his goals by working hard. Nobody should give him an easy way just because he is my son," Sarfaraz mentioned.
