Rishabh Pant posts a heartfelt message for his late father ahead of his fifth death anniversary

Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper Rishabh Pant on Sunday (3rd April) posted a heartfelt message for his late father Rajendra Pant. 

The wicketkeeper batter lost his father during the IPL 2017. He was playing for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) when his father died in his sleep in Roorkee. The southpaw then headed back to his hometown to attend his father's last rites and then rejoined the team. 

The ongoing 15th edition of the league marks the 5th death anniversary of his father. DC skipper took to the official Instagram account and shared a post for his father, who played a crucial role in his career.

“He loved me for who I was and accepted me for who I was striving to become. Dads are strong for a reason. Their strength gives us a sense of protection. Now that you are in heaven dad, I know you will continue to protect me. Thanks for being my dad. Notably, Pant lost his coach Tarak Sinha, whom he called his second father, recently. Ahead of the tournament, he also talked about the role his father and his coach played in his journey. 

Coming to IPL 2022, Delhi Capitals so far has won two of their three matches. They are next slated to face Lucknow Super Giants on Thursday (7th April) at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.
