Board of Cricket for Control in India (BCCI) on Friday (25th March) said that they will not make the Yo-Yo test tougher in order to look after players' mental health.

The Yo-Yo test has become a major part of Indian cricket since mid-2017, following the conclusion of the ICC Champions Trophy. Over the years, many star players such as Ambati Rayudu, Mohammad Shami, Sanju Samson, Varun Chakravarthy have failed to clear the test at one time.

Recently, BCCI had announced that their contracted players won’t be allowed to play in the upcoming IPL 2022 if they didn’t clear the fitness test.

Speaking to ANI, BCCI official revealed that the governing body is not planning to make Yo-Yo tests harder for the players as it’s affecting the mental health of the cricketers.

"No, we don't have any plans of making the Yo-Yo tests harder for the player, as it is not good for the mental health of the players. A lot of cricket is being played and we can't put unnecessary pressure on our players," a BCCI official said.

IPL 2022 will kick start from Saturday (26th March) with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) squaring off in the inaugural clash at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai.
